The cost of an electric heater has gone up 10% in the last five years, according to a new report from the electric power industry group.
The average price of an electricity-generating unit has increased from $100,000 to $180,000 in the same period, according the report by the American Electric Power Association.
The industry has said that the cost of building new electricity-generation units has also increased by nearly a third.
In its 2016 annual report, the group noted that there are more than 2,000 new units coming on line each year, and that about half of those are for the use of older homes.
The group noted, however, that this figure is subject to change because of new and existing customers and incentives in some states.
For example, the report noted that California has recently announced that the price of a home that can be connected to the grid with an electric vehicle will drop from $150,000 today to $70,000 by 2022.
