A Tesla factory in Fremont, California, has been producing the electric Model S for more than a decade.
But this month, Tesla will be selling the car for a limited time for just $3,995, the company said Tuesday.
The Model S will be offered in a limited number of limited-edition color combinations, including black and white.
Tesla will also be selling two new variants, the Sport Utility and the Sport Plus.
The Sport Utility will be available in black, blue, and red, and will be equipped with a seven-speed automatic transmission.
Tesla said it has been developing the Model S as a low-cost alternative to gas-powered vehicles.
The company has also been working on developing a high-performance electric vehicle, the Model X, which it says will be the company’s next mass-market electric car.
Tesla announced the Model 3 in December and said it would begin selling its cars in January.
